Winegrowers have succeeded at Cheval Blanc for more than 6 centuries.
It is thanks to them that the estate has evolved, expanded and passed through the years to become a First Grand Cru Classé.
Final distinction is not an achievement for the current owners LVMH and Albert Frère.
This is the continuation of the preservation of a French jewel.
Château Cheval Blanc tasting comments :
“Like the preceding vintage, 1981 has aged quickly, but remains fruity.
The colour is deep, but showing its age.
Its nose is attractive and elegant, with fresh red fruit and eucalyptus overtones.
The wine starts out quite smooth and fresh on the palate with hints of forest floor, as well as beautiful flavours such as plum and roasted nuances.
The structure lacks definition and the aftertaste shows overtones of prune and very ripe red fruit, as well as tannin that is a bit hard.
It is fresh and balanced, but has aged quickly.
There is no point in waiting any longer to drink it.”
