MORE INFORMATIONS ABOUT 1965 CHATEAU HAUT BRION  :

In many occasions, the prestigious Château Haut Brion occupies a surprisingly large number of first places.

Created in the 1553's by Jean de Pontac, Château Haut Brion was the first Bordeaux wine to bear the name of the property, in a period when wine was quite often sold anonymously.

This first Grand Cru Classé was the first  to implement techniques that are now considered essential, such as the racking and ageing of wines in oak barrels.

In the 1855 classification, it was the only grand cru from the Graves region.

Consequently it was ranked as a first growth.

Selective harvesting, reduced yields and long, careful ageing (approximately 22 months in new barrels) contribute to the production of a marvellous wine.

Earlier maturing than the other grands crus, Château Haut Brion develops a divine finesse, with very smooth notes of ripe blackcurrants and minerals.

There are no poor years at Haut Brion.

In great vintages it is perfectly capable of ageing for several decades, as the 2000 vintage shows it, with more than fifty years of keeping.
